On 23-01-2015, a Joint Declaration of Intent for co-operation in the field of Information and Communications Technology and Electronics (ICTE) was signed between India and US. The objective of the declaration is to strengthen industrial, technological, research & innovation and economic cooperation between the two countries in the ICTE sector. The declaration made for a period of next five years would also lead the US companies to explore opportunities for collaboration in India’s ambitious Digital India programme, Electronics manufacturing and Human Resource Development, through cooperation among private and public entities in a focused manner under the umbrella of the ongoing India-US ICT Dialogue. Besides, an agreement was also reached to promote innovation in the ICTE sector, facilitate the flow of data across borders, and foster the global and open nature of the Internet as a platform for economic growth.
