On 18-03-2015, Lok Sabha passed the Repealing and Amending Bill, 2014. The objective of the Bill is to repeal the enactments which have ceased to be in force or have become obsolete or the retention whereof as separate Acts is unnecessary OR correct/ amend the formal defects detected in the enactments.

The Bill wholly repeals the following 36 enactments:

  2. The Foreign Jurisdiction Act, 1947
  3. The Sugar Undertakings (Taking Over of Management) Act, 1978
  4. The Employment of Manual Scavengers and Construction of Dry Latrines (Prohibition) Act, 1993
  5. The Representation of the People (Amendment) Act, 1999
  6. The Indian Majority (Amendment) Act, 1999
  7. The Administrators-General (Amendment) Act, 1999
  8. The Notaries (Amendment) Act, 1999
  9. The Marriage Laws (Amendment) Act, 1999
  10. The Repealing and Amending Act, 2001
  11. The Marriage Laws (Amendment) Act, 2001
  12. The Indian Divorce (Amendment) Act, 2001
  13. The Indian Succession (Amendment) Act, 2002
  14. The Legal Services Authorities (Amendment) Act, 2002
  15. The Representation of the People (Third Amendment) Act, 2002
  16. The Transfer of Property (Amendment) Act, 2002
  17. The Indian Evidence (Amendment) Act, 2002
  18. The Representation of the People (Second Amendment) Act, 2002
  19. The Representation of the People (Amendment) Act, 2002
  20. The Election Laws (Amendment) Act, 2003
  21. The Representation of the People (Amendment) Act, 2003

  30. The Representation of the People (Amendment) Act, 2008
  31. The Representation of the People (Amendment) Act, 2009
  32. The Personal Laws (Amendment) Act, 2010
  33. The Representation of the People (Amendment) Act, 2010
  34. The Anand Marriage (Amendment) Act, 2012
  35. The Administrators-General (Amendment) Act, 2012
  36. The Parliament (Prevention of Disqualification) Amendment Act, 2013.

      The Bill amends the following enactments:

 

  1. Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013
    • In the proviso to Section 1(3) of the said Act, for the words “the notification”, the words “the said notification” shall be substituted.
  1. Whistle Blowers Protection Act, 2011
    • In the Section 1(1); of the said Act, for the figures “2011”, the figures “2014” shall be substituted, and
    • in the Enacting Formula, for the words “Sixty-second Year”, the words “Sixty-fifth Year” shall be substituted.
