Repealing and Amending (Second) Act, 2015

The Repealing and Amending (Second) Act, 2015 received the assent of the President on 14.05.2015. The objective of the Act is to repeal the enactments which have ceased to be in force or have become obsolete or the retention of which as separate Acts is unnecessary OR correct/ amend the formal defects detected in the enactments.

The Act wholly repeals following enactments:

1. The Export-Import Bank of India (Amendment) Act, 1998
2. The High Court and Supreme Court Judges (Salaries and Conditions of Service) Amendment Act, 1998
3. The Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members of Parliament (Amendment) Act, 1999
4. The Recovery of Debts Due to Banks and Financial Institutions (Amendment) Act, 2000 
5. The Small Industries Development Bank of India (Amendment) Act, 2000
6. The Food Corporations (Amendment) Act, 2000
7. The National Housing Bank (Amendment) Act, 2000
8. The Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members of Parliament (Amendment) Act, 2000
9. The Leaders and Chief Whips of Recognized Parties and Groups in Parliament (Facilities) Amendment Act, 2000

The Act partially repeals the following enactments:

1. The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2006 (Sections 2 to 5)
2. The State Bank of Saurashtra (Repeal) and the State Sections Bank of India (Subsidiary Banks) Amendment Act, 2009 (Section 3 to 11)

The Act amends the following enactments:

1. The Railways (Amendment) Act, 2008 – Omits the words and figure “section 2 of” in Section 2 and inserts “in section 2”.
2. The Indian Maritime University Act, 2008 – Substitutes the words “in the Statutes made thereunder” with “in all Statutes made thereunder” in Section 2.
