The 4th edition of the GNLU Debate, 2016 is scheduled to be held on  September 30 to October 2, 2016. Eastern Book Company/SCC Online are the exclusive knowledge partners for the event. The format for the debate will be British Parliamentary (BP). The  adjudicators on board for the GNLU Debate, 2016 are Ms. Achita Jacob(India), Mr Andre Kua (Singapore) and Mr Souaradip Sen (India) and Mr Rishad Sharif (Bangladesh).

The Debating Society of Gujarat National Law University invites you to the fourth edition of The GNLU Debate scheduled to be held on September 30, October 1 and 2, 2016. It is an open British Parliamentary Debate tournament and we look forward to welcoming institutions, cross teams as well as independent participants.

FROM A GROUP OF ARGUMENTATIVE INDIVIDUALS TO A TOURNAMENT
The Debating Society in GNLU started as a small group of people who wanted infuse the culture of debating into the University’s mainstream activities. From that, the debating culture in GNLU has evolved to hosting our own national tournament in 2013. With the second and third edition of the tournament, the debate went international with adjudicators and participation from outside the country who added to the quality of the tournament with their immense experience. For the fourth edition, we are planning to do what every organizing committee hopes for – to make it better than the last time. Here are a few details regarding the tournament.

OUR ADJUDICATION CORE
The adjudicators on board for the GNLU Debate, 2016 are Ms. Achita Jacob (India), Mr. Andre Kua (Singapore), Mr. Souradip Sen (India), and Mr. Rishad Sharif (Bangladesh). Each of them have participated and won multiple tournaments apart from being the chief adjudicators in prestigious tournaments around the country.

REGISTRATION FEES AND ACCOMMODATIONS DETAILS
The registration fee for participants who wish to avail accommodation is Rs. 1750/-. The University has exclusive hostel facilities within campus for participants who come to GNLU to take part in any event organized by the University. For debaters and adjudicators who wish to make their own domestic arrangements for stay and don’t require the accommodation provided by GNLU, the registration fee is Rs. 1250/- per participant. We provide breakfast on all days for the participants. We also have the practise of assigning one volunteer for every contingent who will help the participants in the event they face any issue through the course of the debate. The debate will conclude on October 2 with the Closing Ceremony followed by Prize Distribution.

For those concerned that their prize money will be indefinitely deferred, there is no need to worry. The payment will be made to the individuals and teams winning the prize money at the Closing Ceremony on October 2, 2016.  A Special Request to the Prize Winners and Finalists – While we understand the attire worn during a debate is casual, please take into consideration that our University has invited reputed individuals for the Closing Ceremony. Our previous editions’ valedictory ceremonies have been graced by DNA Ahmedabad’s Editor-in-Chief and the Additional Solicitor General of India. Since the awards will be presented by such esteemed dignitaries, we request participants to carry with them formal attire in the event that they qualify to the advanced rounds of the Tournament.

ADJUDICATOR SUBSIDIES
We value good adjudicators and we hope to see you all at the GNLU Debate. Adjudicators who wish to avail subsidies are requested to send in their debate curriculum vitaes to gnludebating@gmail.com with the subject of the mail as “Adjudicator Subsidy – Application”. Applicants may also apply through the registration link on our social media co-ordinates given below. The GNLU Debate offers adjudicators subsidy for experienced adjudicators and encourages applications from international debaters to apply for the same. Registration and accommodation fees are waived in respect of international participants.
