National Law University, Delhi is scheduled to  host the 2016 UNCITRAL Asia and Pacific Day, on the 17th of October, 2016. The event would have a special focus on the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (Vienna, 1980)(CISG).

The event is scheduled to have a round table on “Stakeholder Consultation”; a public lecture on “Whether the Uniform Sales Law is likely to aid in ‘Ease of Doing Business’ and ‘Enforcing Contracts’ in India?”, and a symposium on “Towards a Regime of Uniform Transnational Commercial Laws for India: Contracts of International Sale of Goods”.
Some of the notable dignitaries would include Justice A.K. Sikri (Judge, Supreme Court of India), Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman (Minister of State for Commerce and Industry), Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw (Judge, Delhi High Court), among others.

As part of the initiative,  an Essay Competition is also being organised, for which the final date of submission of entries is 23rd of October, 2016. The topic for the essay is “Specific Issues under CISG vis-à-vis Sale of Goods Act,1930 India”.
