NALSAR warmly extends its invitation for participation in the NALSAR Justice Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Moot Court Competition 2017, scheduled to be held from 13-15 October 2017. The Moot, in its 11th Edition, strives to further interest in the field of Constitutional law. The moot is organized with the aid and support of Justice Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Trust (BRSMT) and with SCCOnline-EBC as our Knowledge Partners. We are looking forward to your participation at the 11th NALSAR Justice Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Moot Court Competition 2017.

The Competition is to be held on October 13-15, 2017 at NALSAR University of Law, Justice City, Shameerpet, Hyderabad. Mr. V. Balakista Reddy, Registrar, NALSAR University of Law, shall be the ‘National Coordinator’ of the Moot Court Competition.
Structure of the Competition: The Competition consists of two levels: (a) Memorial Elimination Round and (b) National Rounds. The teams which qualify the Memorial Elimination Round shall be allowed to participate in the National Rounds, which is comprised of Preliminary Rounds and Advanced Rounds viz. Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Finals.

Interpretation of the Rules: The National Coordinator shall serve as final arbiter of implementation and interpretation of these Rules.

Participation and Eligibility:

Eligibility: Each Institution offering an undergraduate LL.B. Degree Course is eligible to participate in the same. A Team may have not have members from more than one Institution. Similarly, no more than one team can participate from any Institution. The Competition is open for students in LL.B. Undergraduate Degree Courses and LL.M. Degree Courses.

Team Composition: (a) Each team shall consist of a minimum of two members and a maximum of three members. The substitution of any Team Member is not allowed after the registration deadline except in extenuating circumstances and only with written permission of the National Coordinator.

(b) Every team shall consist of two speakers. Teams may have only one researcher.

(c) A researcher shall be allowed to argue instead of a speaker only with the permission of the Court.

Registration:

Online Registration Format and Deadline: Teams must register by 25th September 2017 by sending an email to mcc.nalsar@gmail.com with the subject “Registration for NALSAR BR Sawhny Moot 2017”. The e-mail should contain the duly filled in Registration Form. Each registered team would be allotted a provisional Team Code.

Registration Fee (After Memorial Elimination Round)

(a) Teams that clear the Memorial Elimination Round and are Invited to participate in the Moot Court Competition as per Rule 4.5 must send a registration fee of Rs 5,000- via Online Transfer (NEFT) latest by 9 October 2017. Details of the Bank Account to be transferred to:

(b) Details of the online transfer must be sent in the confirmation e-mail sent to mcc.nalsar@gmail.com by the invited teams as per Rule 4.5 (c) by 2359hrs on 9th October 2017.

Accommodation, Food and Transport: (a) Accommodation and food shall be provided to all teams by NALSAR University of Law from 13 October 2017 to 15 October 2017.

(b) Teams willing to stay beyond the dates of the moot, as specified will have to pay Rs. 500/- per member per day.

(c) The Travel Details form must be duly filled and sent in the confirmation e-mail sent to mcc.nalsar@gmail.com by the invited teams as per Rule 4.5 (c) by 2359hrs on 9th October 2017.
