About the event: It gives us immense pleasure to present to you the 9th Government Law College International Law Summit, 2018 organized by the Students for the Promotion of International Law (SPIL), Government Law College, Mumbai. The Summit is scheduled to be organized from the 9th – 11th of March, 2018. The Theme for the Summit, 2018, is ‘International Humanitarian Law’.

Government Law College enjoys the distinction of being the oldest law school in Asia and has since its inception in 1855, essayed a seminal role in the evolution of the legal and judicial landscape of India. Taking cognizance of the immense relevance of growing transnational interactions, SPIL, Mumbai has undertaken the task of promoting international law and facilitating an empirical study, which rises beyond the realms of mere textual knowledge.

Dates: 9th – 11th March, 2018

Venue: Government Law College, Mumbai

Competitions: The Summit, which began as an academic forum for propagation of International Law within the college, is today an eclectic mix of a key note addresses, seminars, workshops, a Panel Discussion, a Call for Papers and two novel competitions – the Judgment Deliberation Competition© and the Treaty Appreciation Competition©, which were both conceived within the portals of Government Law College.

Our associations with premier institutions such as the International Law Student Association (ILSA), Chicago and the Indian Society of International Law (ISIL), New Delhi, have only added to our credentials, and have ensured interest and participation from reputed law schools across the world.

Having said that, the success the Summit has enjoyed must also be attributed to organizations from across the corporate and legal spectrum, who have been associated with the Summit, such as Reliance Industries Ltd., Mulla & Mulla and Craigie Blunt & Caroe, AZB & Partners, Nishith Desai Associates, Baker McKenzie, USA, Economic Laws Practice, and Crawford Bayley & Co to name a few.

The Summit has been graced by the august presence of experts in various fields of International Law, who have participated in the Summit in varying capacities, ranging from delivering key note addresses, to lectures, to judging rounds of the competitions.

NOTE: The deadlines for the competitions in the Summit have been extended and the dates mentioned herein will precede the Invitation. The deadline for submission for Call for Papers has been further extended to 16th February, 2018. The deadline for registration of Judgment Deliberation Competition and Treaty Appreciation Competition has been further extended till 16th of February, 2018.

The Summit functions in a two pronged manner – catering to, corporate-firms and students. The Summit offers corporates an opportunity to address vast audiences comprising members of the legal fraternity, their clients, corporates, and students from the best law schools from across the world.
