On 14-04-2015, a Joint Statement was signed between India and Germany to upgrade and further strengthen strategic partnership between the two countries. The objective of the statement is to achieve economic growth and sustainable development through greater synergies between German engineering, innovation and skills, and ‘Make in India’, ‘Clean India’, ‘Digital India’ and other initiatives. The aim is also:

  • to work together on meeting global challenges such as climate change, energy and food security. 
  • to foster stronger ties between business and industry on both sides in order to support India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. 
  • to enhance employability of trainees and apprentices by strengthening industry involvement in Skills Development.
  • to strengthen the bilateral cooperation for development of urban planning and infrastructure in India.
  • to support for the modernization of the railway infrastructure.
  • to support India’s proposed objective of 175GW of renewable energy by 2022 through technical and financial support for developing comprehensive solar rooftop and green energy corridor projects in India. 
  • to promote closer R&D Cooperation in science, technology and innovation.
