As reported by The Hindu, giving another twist to the ever raging issue of cow slaughter and beef ban, the Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday chipped in to recommend the Union Government to declare cow as National Animal and increase the punishment for cow slaughter to life imprisonment. The Bench of Mahesh Chandra Sharma, J., directed the State Chief Secretary to take steps in this direction. The Court asked the State Advocate General to provide assistance for getting the national animal status for cows, while making it clear that the enhancement of punishment to the life term should be made for the slaughter of all bovine animals.
