The Tamil Nadu National Law School (TNNLS) hosted the TNNLS-CCI National Moot Court Competition, it was the second National-level Moot organised by the university from the 2nd to 4th of February 2018. The event which saw participation from institutions all over Indiawas based on Competition Law – a division of Law that seeks to maintain market competition by regulation of anti-competitive practices by companies.

The event was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kamala Sankaran on the 2nd. This was followed by the Draw of Lots and Exchange of Memorials by the participating teams. The preliminary rounds began on the 3rd. Two rounds of prelims took place so each team had a chance to present their case as both the appellants and respondents. This was followed by the knockout rounds. The prelims and knockouts were judged by our faculty members, practicing lawyers and experts in Competition Law provided for by the Competition Commission of India (CCI).

The Final Round between Indian Law Society, Pune, and School of Law, Sastra, was adjudged by a stellar bench comprising of Hon’ble Justice Mr. Rajiv Shakdher (High Court of Delhi), Mr. Manoj Pandey IRS ( Law Advisor, CCI) and Thiru. P.H. Arvindh Pandian ( Addl. Advocate General of Tamil Nadu ).

 ILS, Pune emerged as the Winners of the Competition, while Lianne Lucia D’souza of School of Law, Christ and won the Best Speaker and UPES, Dehradun Best Memorial Award Respectively.

All the award winners were given a total cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh. The event was sponsored by the Competition Commission of India along with Eastern Book Company and SCC Online.
