Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the Economic Survey 2018-19 in the Parliament today, i.e. 04-07-2019.

The Government has projected the real GDP growth for the year 2019-20 at 7 per cent, on the back of an anticipated pickup in the growth of investment and acceleration in the growth of consumption.

India continues to remain the fastest growing major economy in the world in 2018-19, despite a slight moderation in its GDP growth from 7.2 per cent in 2017-18 to 6.8 per cent in 2018-19. On the other hand, the world output growth declined from 3.8 per cent in 2017 to 3.6 per cent in 2018

Meaning of Economic Survey and its significance:

Economic Survey is succinct of the annual economic development of the economy keeping all the aspects in the account. The Chief Economic Advisor in the Ministry of Finance is responsible for preparing the economic survey. It provides detailed statistical data of the survey. It has details of various sectors and also is a source to implement and modify policy decisions.
