Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur concluded the 3rd G.L.Sanghi Memorial Lecture on 19th of October 2019 at Dr. Vasantao Deshpande Hall, Nagpur.
The lecture was delivered by his lordship Hon’ble Justice L. Nageshwara Rao, Judge Supreme Court of India on the topic – ‘ Freedom of Speech and Expression under the Indian Constitution’, and was dealt with meticulously by him, guiding and canvassing through every part and corner of the topic – the idea, emergence, its nature, its capacity to include various other rights (Right to Freedom of Press, Right to Information,etc.).
The lecture was full of quotes from various eminent personalities of the legal field, from Lord Atkin and Lord Denning to Justice Hidaytullah; and references to various case laws – both Indian and foreign were made throughout the lecture so as to make students understand the application and nuances of such a provision.
At the end of his lecture, Justice L. Nageshwara Rao urged the students to exercise their ‘right to thought’ and actively ask questions regarding anything and everything.
Justice Vipin Sanghi while enumerating the qualities of his father, Late Shri G.L. Sanghi, called him a ‘one-man army’  who took on each case with utmost sincerity and dedication.
The event also witnessed the launch of a new book authored by Prof. Dr. Vijender Kumar titled – ‘Being a Law Teacher’, which covers what it means to be a Law teacher and is filled with his experiences over the years in various roles, that are encompassed in this book lucidly.
The dias was presided over by Justice B.R. Gavai, Judge Supreme Court of India, who spkoe high and might about Shri G.L.Sanghi,in whose memory the lecture series is, during his speech. Justice R.K. Deshpande, Administrative Judge of Bombay High Court at Nagpur Bench, Justice Vipin Sanghi, Judge ,High Court of Delhi, Prof. Dr. Vijender Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, MNLU,Nagpur and Dr. Ashish Dixit, Registrar, MNLU,Nagpur also graced the dias.
The event along with the dignatories on the dias was also graced by the presence of Justice V. S.Sirpurkar, Former Judhe, Supreme Court of India, Various sitting and retired judhes of Bombay High Court, Advocates, Army Officers from Institute of Military Law, led by their Commandant Brigadier A.D. Jamwal, and Prof. (Dr.) Srinivas Varakhedi, Vice- Chancellor,  Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University off the dias.
The event was a grand suceess and carried on the legacy of Late Shri G.L. Sanghi in his spirit, as well as was a notable addition to the previous two editions spoken at by Justice S.A. Bobde, Judge, Supreme Court of India,  and Justice  Ruma Pal, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India respectively.
